The Echo was one of the more elusive signals on the short wave bands during the 1990s.

Consisting of a single bleep every four seconds,  this signal was heard on  one frequency which it occupied for a while, then would vanish, only to pop up somewhere else a month or two later.

Was never heard on more than one frequency at any one time, so thought to have been a single transmitter.

As there have been no reports of this signal 1999, it appears to have permanently closed.
